Peel Chair is a self-initiated project by Blond exploring the studio's passion for furniture.

The design plays with the illusion that it's constructed from a singular sheet of formed plywood that has been peeled back and folded into shape.

"It evokes the natural phenomena of bark peeling from trees and is inspired by the timeless plywood furniture of modernist Marcel Breuer," said Blond.

The backrest, legs and seat come together at seamless contact points to create an aesthetically pleasing continuous line through its side profile.

Peel Chair is made from plywood — a low-cost material that can be sustainably sourced and manufactured.

This project has been longlisted in the furniture design category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
