Proctor & Shaw has designed the Pimlico Townhouse in London, United Kingdom.
"Mid-19th century townhouses were principally designed to persuade the wealthy to buy affordable houses in the city," said Proctor & Shaw.
"The townhouse was therefore typically arranged with grand 'served' rooms at [the] ground, first and second floors sandwiched between subterranean 'servant' rooms below and above in the roof space."
This project was about opening up the lower floors to light and height in the Pimlico Townhouse, transforming them for contemporary family life – while supporting multigenerational living with an inclusive accessible design.
This project has been longlisted in the house renovation category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
