Lina Ghotmeh – Architecture has designed the Precise Acts - Hermès Workshops in France.
Ateliers Hermès is the first low-carbon, energy-positive industrial building in France designed by Lina Ghotmeh – Architecture.
The architecture of this project simultaneously remodels industrial buildings into structures that are functional, environmentally virtuous, and aesthetically beautiful.
This project emerges with handcraft as a start and end point. Built in bricks, the construction narrates the power of the hand. 550,000 bricks, made from the local earth, structure the space, announcing both resistance and lightness.
Carefully laid by companions and master masons, they have allowed the reviving of know-how all while re-establishing an intimate and emotional link to building.
This project has been longlisted in the sustainable building category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
