Kennedy Nolan built Somers House in Australia.
Somers House is divided into spatially distinct "apartments". The main bedroom suite is connected to the principal living areas, forming a self-contained zone.
The upper level offers flexible accommodation, with bedrooms, a bathroom and a living room separated by a wind-protected terrace.
Below the living room, level with the sea-front lawn, is another bedroom suite with a versatile space currently used for exercising.
Meanwhile, the main living area – a raised glass pavilion – offers captivating views and captures northern sun.
These parts are connected via a three-level stair and lift tower, providing an enclosed and private experience.
This project has been longlisted in the rural house category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
