Mjölk Architeckti has reconstructed The Glass Cabin in Polubny, Czech Republic.
"We approached the reconstruction of the 130-year-old cottage in [the] Jizera Mountains as a preparation," said Mjölk Architeckti. "We searched for different qualities, materials and places in the old building [and] we made everything accessible and visible."
Behind the cottage where the annexe used to be, the architects added a glass mass that has transformed the living space of the lower floor.
The contrast and harmony between the classical room and the new extension is what best summarises The Glass Cabin project.
This project has been longlisted in the house renovation category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
