Jenkins & Uhnger has designed The Minus Chair, a low-carbon emission mass-produced chair, for Minus Furniture.

Minus Furniture is a Norwegian manufacturer with a vision to create a new standard of consumption with the goal of radically carbon-negative furniture.

Production and research methodologies are based on research collaborations into logging techniques, carbon sequestration, biodiversity, life cycle analysis, compact value chains and circular design with 100 years' perspective.

"The Minus Chair, designed by the Norwegian-British duo Jenkins & Uhnger, has one of the lowest carbon emissions for a mass-produced dining chair in Scandinavia," said Minus Furniture.

The Minus Chair emits 1.9kg CO2e purchased in a linear business model and a radical -2.9kg CO2e in a circular business model of subscription.

This project has been longlisted in the furniture design category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
