Britsom Philips Architects has renovated Villa VD in Waasmunster, Belgium.
This project is the reconversion and extension of a modest house with a gable roof, located on a perfectly oriented plot on a clearing in the woods of Waasmunster.
"The main concept for the reconversion was to extend the gable roof on both sides of the existing volume," said Britsom Philips Architects.
An identical transverse volume with a gable roof was also built at right angles to this longitudinal volume.
By opening the house to the four sides, a cross-shaped floor plan was created with new zoning on the plot – but also new internal relationships in the house.
This project has been longlisted in the house renovation category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
