Risco has revitalised a former Portuguese convent, now transformed into a versatile events centre.

Convento do Beato features several structures spanning different eras. Risco's focus on the site encompassed a novel ceiling design within the old cloister.

This new ceiling design prioritised structural lightness, technical efficiency, and architectural harmony with the cloister's facade. The architect incorporated a grid of orthogonal trusses, forming illuminated "honeycombs" accentuated by overhead skylights.

Beyond this, Risco repurposed the remaining buildings for various uses, crafting outdoor spaces, and implementing above-ground and underground parking.

This project has been shortlisted in the heritage project category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
