Studio Lentala has collaborated with Dr. Simone Caljouw and Dr. John van der Kamp to create playful school furniture for Lentala Kids.
"The daily habit of passive sitting on regular chairs in the classrooms results in a negative cycle where inactivity leads to poor physical health and low self-esteem of school children," said Studio Lentala.
In response, Lentala developed – in collaboration with movement scientists – two playful seating designs, Rom and Lupa.
The seating design for children reduces the monotonous stress of sitting in one position and provides freedom in mobility.
The seats offer a healthy and active sitting solution, pushing the habitual boundaries of conventional chair sitting starting at schools.
This project has been shortlisted in the product design (health and wellbeing) category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
