Alexander Boxill has developed the Objects Of Desire: Surrealism and Design 1924 - Today exhibition for the Design Museum in London, United Kingdom.
"The Design Museum brought Vitra's exhibition to London and commissioned us to reinvigorate the 2D design to align it with the Design Museum's audience," said Alexander Boxill.
"After several months of research, discussions and experimentation, our design approach straddled both the 2D and 3D as we introduced a variety of textures, materials and (seemingly) malleable forms to celebrate the spirit of the movement and echo exuberance and theatre of Surrealism."
"We kept the typography simple but playful with an awkward charm through uncomfortable word spacing and exaggerated letterforms balancing the oneiric and dreamlike nature of the subject matter and the seriousness of the discipline," added Alexander Boxill.
This project has been shortlisted in the exhibition design (interior) category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
