Workers of Art have created and built their second home in Kerala, India.
The WOA Second Home is an architectural studio in Cochin that embodies sustainable and collaborative design principles.
Transformed from a tile storage space, its 1450 square foot expanse creatively employs cement concrete, high-density fibreboard (HDF) and mild steel, fostering an environmentally conscious workspace.
The open layout promotes collaboration, while over 100 local plants enhances the air quality and creates a unique microclimate. Experimental lighting setups further illustrate the studio's innovative spirit.
This project challenges traditional design, underscores the necessity of curtailment of waste output in architecture, and advocates and emphasises the significance of incremental steps towards environmental sustainability in the construction industry.
This project has been shortlisted in the workplace interior (small) category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
