Winner: Emerging designer of the year 2023. French designer Audrey Large is based in Rotterdam.
Interdisciplinary designer Large jumps between analogue and digital methods. The French artist's digitally rendered designs are 3D-printed into furniture and sculptures that resemble ambiguously shaped two-dimensional forms.
Projects by Large include an exhibition exploring virtual and physical worlds and a furniture collection with swirling organic forms presented at Milan design week.
Judges comments: "Since graduating from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2017, Audrey Large has developed a unique visual language that involves 3D-printing objects based on hand drawings, which she digitally distorts. Ranging from furniture and homeware to abstract sculptures, the resulting pieces blur the line between art and design, digital and handcraft. After putting on her biggest solo show to date at this year's Milan Design Week with Nilufar Gallery, the judges are excited to see what boundaries Large will push next."
