David Thulstrup has designed the evocative new home of Ikoyi at 180 The Strand, aligning the restaurant's architecturally definitive interior with the Brutalist character of its landmark building.

As a result, the space is imbued with an atmosphere that speaks to the intensity and boldness of gastronomy.

"Through strong architectural gestures and a material palette reduced to its essence, copper, stone, steel mesh, leather, oak, creating a space of drama and calm," said David Thulstrup. "A space true to place and yet not anchored in a specific culture."

Judges comments: "The studio demonstrates a tasteful use of materials and detail suited to the environment and the brutalist building in which the restaurant resides. The delicate choice and material combinations are well-fitted to the high-end cuisine offering."
