Christian Louboutin

French fashion designer Christian Louboutin is the founder of eponymous brand Christian Louboutin.

Louboutin creates shoes, bags and accessories for all genders, as well as a beauty range that includes makeup and fragrance. Worn by musicians and film stars, royalty and athletes, the designs share a luxurious aesthetic of exoticism, Parisian chic and unique craftsmanship.

Fascinated by showgirls, he started his working life as an intern at the Folies Bergères. Christian became obsessed with the role of the shoe in defining a silhouette. While still there, Christian called Hélène de Mortemart, Christian Dior’s fashion director, to present his drawings to her. They met, and she suggested an internship at Charles Jourdan, Dior shoes’ manufacturer, where he spent a very instructive time.

In 1991, Louboutin opened his first boutique, named the House of Christian Louboutin. Known for his signature red soles, he designs shoes, bags and accessories.

30 years later, Louboutin has worked with artists such as Dita von Teese, photographer David Lynch and singer Mika. He has collaborated with fashion designers Jean Paul Gautier, Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent.

L’Exhibition[niste] opened in Paris in 2020, a solo exhibition dedicated to Christian Louboutin. Two years later he L’Exhibition[niste] Chapter II, opened in Monaco.

In 2022, Christian Louboutin received the Hadrian Award from the World Monuments Fund for his commitment to the preservation of Egyptian cultural heritage.
