Patricia Urquiola

Patricia Urquiola is the founder of Milan-based architecture and design studio Studio Urquiola.

Urquiola's portfolio includes installations, architecture, art direction and designs for a wide range of international brands including Flos, Moroso, Driade, Gan, Andreu World, Glas Italia, CC-Tapis, Kettal, Kvadrat and international groups such as Haworth, BMW, Boeing, Louis Vuitton, Missoni, Mandarin Oriental Hotels, Four Seasons, Marriott Group, Starbucks, Ferrari and Swarovski. Since 2015, she has been the Art Director of Cassina.

Urquiola has been a visiting professor at numerous institutions including Harvard University, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Michigan University (MSU), Shenkar School of Engineering and Design in Israel, the Alvar Aalto Academy in Finland, at the State University and Bocconi University in Milan. She is also part of the advisory board of the Politecnico of Milan University, the Triennale Milano Museum and is an Altagamma Honorary Member.

The architect's work is exhibited in museums worldwide, including the MoMa in New York, the Decorative Arts Museum in Paris, the Triennale Museum in Milan, the Design Museum in Monaco, the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) in Melbourne, the Vitra Design Museum in Basel, the V&A in London, the Design Museum in Zurich, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Design Museum of Barcelona and the Philadelphia Art Museum.

Last year she was awarded Dezeen Awards Interior Designer of the Year and has also been named Designer of the Year by Wallpaper*, Elle Decor International, AD España and Architecktur und Wohnen, among other magazines. She was awarded the Golden Medal for Merits in Art and received the Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic.
