Lake Flato Architects has renovated and transformed its own office on 311 Third in San Antonio, United States.

This newly renovated office draws on the best aspects of the architecture firm’s community-oriented, place-based culture.

As part of an effort to revitalise urban infrastructure that celebrates nature, place, craft and community through adaptive reuse, this office transformation is denser than before and offers a variety of flexible workspaces connected to nature.

"The design preserved the historic facade of the former single-level garage, reinforced it and added a gate and glazing that lead to a new courtyard," said Lake Flato.

As a result, the courtyard has become an extension of the office and a natural backdrop for a variety of work, community and social collaborations.

This project has been longlisted in the workplace project category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
