RDTH Architekti has led the transformation of the New House with Old Mill in Slovakia.

This project saw the transformation of an old mill and farm into a family home, utilising a series of timber structures in reference to its former "old coops and sheds."

"Generations change, but respect for the work of the elders remains," said RDTH Arhcitekti.

The buildings that remain on the plot adopt the language that allows two generations to understand and speak to each other.

The old and new buildings are connected in materials, form and use – with the intentions of the project well aware of today's needs and challenges throughout.

This project has been longlisted in the house (rural) category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
