Seastex has conceptualised and designed the Acoustic Byssus Core Tile.

The Acoustic Byssus Core (ABC) Tile is a circular, safe and sustainable line of acoustic products featuring an innovative mussel beard core that is 100% renewable, recyclable and biodegradable.

In edible mussels, the byssus, often referred to as the 'beard,' is an inedible part that is trimmed off and discarded as it is of no further use.

By combining craftsmanship and innovative technologies, Seastex extracts, processes and incorporates these mussel beards into the tile's sound-absorbing core.

This project has been longlisted in the material innovation category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
