Balena and Bridgitte Kock have collaborated on FlexTex3D, a flexible, 3D-printed fashion garment.

On this project, Balena partnered with modular 3D-print fashion designer Brigitte Kock to disrupt the fashion textile industry.

By leveraging Balena's FlexTex3D technology, underpinned by BioCir®flex3D – a biobased, compostable 3D-printing material – and seamlessly employed by Brigitte on the 'Artillery Sidewinder 2x' 3D printer, the design duo have developed a flexible, ready-to-wear garment.

This marks a milestone in circular 3D-printed fabrics, boasting durability, flexibility and wearability surpassing other biomaterials.

Offering a circular alternative to fossil-derived plastics reduces garments' carbon footprint, fostering the shift to circular business models.

With its aesthetic rigour and innovative materials and design, this project embodies beauty, innovation and lasting impact.

This project has been longlisted in the textile design category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
