Forest-Wood Archi-Tect has designed the Bridge Cocoon | Bamboo Booth in Hsinchu City, Taiwan.
This project's cocoon-like bamboo structure features a ventilated, innovative way, hand-made elastic and waterproof canopy made from traditional bamboo paper.
The cocoon skin layer is interpreted in three parts: the ceiling utilises recycled fishing industry waste float balls arranged and bound to the bamboo arches, coated with waterproof weather-resistant paint to stretch and support the fabric internally, creating organic curves conducive to natural rainwater and leaf runoff.
By day, sunlight filters through the Bridge Cocoon | Bamboo Booth; by night, the coverage is illuminated, blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings and providing poetic shelter for pedestrians.
This project has been longlisted in the small project category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
