Ar_ea has designed the Dra Skin Derma Institute interiors in Medllín, Colombia.

The institute's floor plan distribution was inspired by John Hejduk's research on the architectural implications of the 'diamond configuration' – a 45-degree rotation of bounding elements with respect to an orthogonal system.

This is how the Dra Skin Derma Institute was organised – based on an orthogonal system (a concrete structural system) and the rotation of walls and dividing surfaces.

The square floor plan is divided by six grid lines, intersecting at nine concrete columns, forming the system that will organise and allow the rotation of walls,

This project seeks diverse spatiality that changes in sections according to their use, providing a journey for clients.

This project has been longlisted in the health and well-being interior category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
