Yang Ying Design Studio has transformed the Fenghuang Maglev Station city entrance and landscape leisure trail in Fenghuang, China.

With a unique point-shaped infrastructure, the design of the Fenghuang Maglev Station city entrance and landscape leisure trail uses the lightest intervention, micro-transformation and low-energy consumption methods to reduce the impact on natural vegetation.

"The trails that fly through the mountains, like calligraphy, have revitalised the ancient residential areas of Chinese ethnic minorities," said Yang Ying.

Through the transformation of abandoned houses, the three-stage layout of the project eliminates the height difference to realise the connection between border towns and modern urban facilities.

This project has been longlisted in the infrastructure and transport project category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
