DRAWINGS has conceptualised and built Garden Room, a pavilion installation.

Daniel Garcia and William Smith of Drawings, the 11th winners of the annual Ragdale Ring competition, constructed Garden Room during an 18-day residency.

DRAWINGS' pavilion adapts the formal, spatial and social characteristics of a table surrounded by chairs, offering visitors and performers a sense of theatricality and practicality.

Each chair creates a striking frame for the visitor sitting on either side of the seat-back, harkening back to the idea of the table's theatrical potential.

By heightening each plane that makes up the seat-backs, the eight chairs form a circular room, partially secluded from the surrounding landscape.

This project has been longlisted in the installation design category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
