Office ParkScheerbarth has designed Haus 2+ in Berlin, Germany.
From a historic lumber port to a border zone and the legendary club Bar25 to today's cooperative cultural district, Berlin's Holzmarkt 25 has a rich history.
With Haus 2+, an entirely wooden building has entered the scene. Fully clad in bright red wood, it sets out to fulfil its design purpose on a tight budget with the highest sustainability ambitions.
"The newly emerged addition is a friendly parasite that uses the external stairwell of the neighbouring building to eliminate CO2-intensive circulation space," said Office ParkScheerbarth.
Featuring a regionally prefabricated, screw-assembled timber construction, Haus 2+ champions eco-conscious design, enabling easy disassembly, separation and reuse.
This project has been longlisted in the sustainable building category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
