Gardiner Architects has created Heather's Off-Grid House in Victoria, Australia.

This sustainable farmhouse reimagines rural off-grid living, balancing modern comforts, flexibility and sustainability with a design that is responsive to the farmland and native vegetation that surrounds it.

Situated on a vast 37-hectare property, the arrangement of the building form thoughtfully projects the living spaces into the surrounding pastureland, capturing panoramic views whilst sheltering and ordering the various functional spaces, including an agricultural shed, flexible studio, orchard and produce garden.

The project integrates various sustainability strategies beyond conventional practice to enhance its environmental performance and minimise its ecological footprint.

This project has been longlisted in the sustainable building category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
