Oslo Works has created and developed the Hotspot in Nesoddtangen, Norway.

The neighbourhood community on the Nesodden peninsula, a short ferry ride from the Norwegian capital, Oslo, wanted an eco-friendly and social sauna with a breathtaking view.

The solution was a sauna constructed of massive wood modules with a room-sized window placed along the water's edge.

The Hotspot sauna consists of two changing rooms, a storage room and the sauna room, where the walls, roof and floor are constructed of massive wood elements, untraditionally mechanically fastened with screws and clad with burnt and oiled pine shingles.

The elements were delivered as 40-centimetre-wide partitions so that two individuals could carry them to the rather inaccessible plot and assemble them on-site.

This project has been longlisted in the small project category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
