Fango has designed the Ibuju Collection, which is showcased at the Side Gallery.
The Ibuju collection, driven by Fango's creative director, Francisco Jaramillo, merges design and storytelling and addresses deforestation concerns in the Amazon.
Jaramillo transforms Indigenous aesthetics into a sustainable neo-folk furniture line using renewable Yaré fibre sourced from the Colombian Amazon.
This initiative responds to the overuse of native woods, offering functional alternatives while honouring local weaving traditions.
Through this collection, Jaramillo aims to preserve the Amazon's biodiversity while showcasing its cultural heritage.
The collaboration with local communities highlights the importance of sustainability and indigenous craftsmanship, emphasising a harmonious relationship between design innovation, environmental consciousness and cultural preservation.
This project has been longlisted in the sustainable design (consumer) category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
