Bergmeisterwolf has designed and added an extension to the Into the Wall – Wiedenhofer building in Brixen, Italy.
This project is in continuity with the South Tyrolean building tradition to define a new thinking space in a farm environment.
Therefore, every design choice contributes to giving importance to the meaning of the material, both old and new.
In general, the idea is always to preserve a clear lecture of the pre-existing structure, sometimes through gaps – like the one created between the light pink living box inside the hen house and the ceiling – as well as the choice of the coloured inserts, to create a balanced atmosphere between past and present.
All the new components of Into the Wall – Wiedenhofer are handmade and designed in an essential way according to the principle of building in continuity to the tradition.
This project has been longlisted in the house renovation category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
