Estudio MMX has rebuilt and redesigned the Jardín Cuauhtémoc in Tlahuelilpan, Mexico.
Jardín Cuauhtémoc in Tlahuelilpan, Hidalgo, is a project designed to rehabilitate the town's central plaza.
After a sensitive event where a clandestine gasoline outlet exploded in the ejido of San Primitivo, the whole community was left recovering from an open wound.
"It was necessary to rebuild its identity, and this plaza does it through collective space," said Estudio MMX.
The central kiosk not only hosts social, cultural, and civic events for the community but also operates as a water management device.
Landscape and paving interventions make the plaza more accessible and strengthen its interaction with urban and social space.
This project has been longlisted in the small project category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
