Arete Architects has designed the Karaka Tower annexe in Wellington, New Zealand.

The Karaka Tower, an annexe to an existing family home, offers a lot more than an additional bedroom and art studio.

"It provides intrigue and fancy, a place to reflect and retreat and [a] glimpse of good ol' Kiwi ingenuity and artistry," said Arete Architects.

Nestled among the native bush-clad hills of Eastbourne, the Karaka Tower provides sweeping views from the northwest to the south over Te Whanganui-a-Tara and the residential suburb below.

This project is a true reflection of what can be achieved by caring craftsmen and a strong will to prove an architectural concept.

This project has been longlisted in the house renovation category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
