Skidmore Owings & Merrill has designed Terminal 2 at Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore, India.
Designed to be a "terminal in a garden", according to architects Skidmore Owings & Merrill, Kempegowda International Airport's new Terminal 2 radically reimagines the airport experience.
Inspired by the city of Banglore's reputation as the "Garden City", the 255,000-square-metre terminal offers a sequence of landscaped spaces that connect passengers to nature, creating an oasis within the bustle of an international airport.
The new terminal, which increases the airport's annual capacity by 25 million, is a striking civic gateway that established Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) as one of the world's premier airports.
This project has been longlisted in the infrastructure and transport project category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
