Domain Architects has designed and transformed the Lakeside Teahouse in Jiaxing, China.
Located in front of a hill, the Lakeside Teahouse is just 100 metres from the lakeshore.
Connected by a curved, elevated bridge corridor, the site had two old courtyard houses dating back to the 1930s facing a lake where the scenic area was famous as a great example of traditional Chinese literati aesthetics.
The new teahouse allows guests to experience shifting views of the landscape while walking along it as if they are unfolding a long scroll painting.
This project has been longlisted in the small project category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
