Tom Robertson Architects has designed the Life Down a Lane home in Richmond, Australia.

Life Down a Lane is a contemporary family home with efficient, functional spaces, including outdoor space for entertaining and play for a family of four – and a garage that could double as a flexible space – built on a tiny, subdivided site.

Sustainability initiatives such as high thermal mass material, stack ventilation, rainwater harvesting and solar panels have been implemented to reduce the operational carbon footprint and create a healthy and comfortable home.

"The outcome is a private haven that offers all the benefits of inner urban living just down the lane," said Tom Robertson Architects.

This project has been longlisted in the house (urban) category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
