NITAPROW has developed the Little Stove & Little Stump coffee shop in Bangkok, Thailand.

The project is accessible from an alley originally known as "Soi Wat Yai Rom" ("Grandma Umbrella Temple Alley" in Thai).

As a result, the coffee shop's curvature follows the abstract contour of an umbrella, the curved roof line spreads continuously across the building from the exterior canopy into the interior ceiling.

The outdoor seating area wraps around the back corner of the glass facades, placed under a large four-metre canopy to provide comfortable shading, encouraging outdoor seating and bringing visitors closer to the spacious outdoor garden, which overlooks the quiet waterway and the existing banyan tree.

The design and construction were done simultaneously with the making of a children's book, The Stump and Friends, to create a connection between the imaginative world and the physical experience.

This project has been longlisted in the hospitality project category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
