Monc has developed its own sustainable mycelium packaging made from 'magical' mushrooms.

Monc's new packaging harnesses the potential of agricultural waste and fungi, one of the world's oldest natural recycling systems.

"The UK recycling system is broken [so] Monc aims to take the responsibility into [our] own hands by removing the need to rely on it," said Monc.

"Grown from mycelium, our box is home-compostable within 45 days or reusable as a plant nursery that can later be planted."

Upon returning to the earth, its carbon remains safely locked away, while helpful nitrates nourish the soil.

This project has been longlisted in the sustainable design (consumer) category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
