NBBJ has created and developed the design of the Montage Health Ohana Campus in Monterey, United States.

This project unites an outpatient clinic and a 16-bed residential programme – as well as holistic resources such as a gym at the centre and an outdoor amphitheatre for group classes.

"An increasing number of young people report suffering from mental health issues, often exacerbated by treatment that typically takes place in “institutional-like” facilities that isolate rather than heal," said NBBJ.

Ohana is formed from a series of softly curved volumes that create a welcoming embrace where the design applies the latest neuroscience research to provide an inclusive, healing environment for children and teens.

This project has been longlisted in the health and wellbeing project category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
