Studio RAP has designed New Delft Blue, two porcelain-plate-inspired gates.
The New Delft Blue project comprises two large gates that guide people from the public space to the semi-public courtyard.
Studio RAP drew inspiration from traditional Delft Blue porcelain plates, characterised by a decorative, nature-inspired frame and an idyllic scene in the middle.
This division serves as the foundation for the New Delft Blue design, wherein the ever-changing courtyard embodies the idyllic scene – while the gates function as a three-dimensional frame adorned with algorithmically designed, nature-inspired patterns.
This design is manifested in 3,000 unique bespoke ceramic panels 3D printed by Studio RAP.
This project has been longlisted in the surface design category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
