Studio Saransh has created and transported a new studio, Oasis, in Ahmedabad, India.
The architectural studio's relocation from Ahmedabad's urban cityscape to the suburbs was driven not only by space constraints but also by the need to escape the chaos of a fast-paced city, hence the name 'Oasis'.
Instead of a single studio, different smaller building blocks were planned to create multiple landscaped courtyards.
These are connected by open walkways, creating a seamless transition between different levels.
Driven by the core vernacular principles of Western Indian architecture, the studio's courtyards, stone rubble walls and pitched roofs give it a contemporary form.
This project has been longlisted in the workplace project category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
