Breakspear Architects has designed Shed House in New South Wales, Australia.

Designed for a couple running a furniture business and their three children, Shed House embodies a seamless integration of work and domestic life – complete with a lush garden courtyard is the home's heart that unites a two-storey layout.

Life in the house revolves around this central oasis, creating a rich interplay between the interior and the surroundings, where the natural phenomena of landscape and weather are internalised in a verandah-like quality.

"House and garden are made inextricably one in a dynamic mix of proximity, separation, flexibility and tranquillity," said Breakspear Architects.

This project has been longlisted in the house (urban) category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
