Färg & Blanche have developed the Sketch sofa for Johanson Design.

The Sketch sofa was originally designed for the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2023.

For the installation, The Yellow Thread, Färg & Blanche experimented with a carpet overlock sewing machine, utilising it in a non-traditional manner by fabricating three-dimensional shapes by stitching together several layers of textile.

This resulted in a tactile quality to the edges that is typically difficult to achieve with traditional piping cords, establishing a dialogue of materiality and colour between the edge and the textile in the armchairs, sofas and benches.

This project has been longlisted in the seating design category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
