Studio RIANKNOP has designed Slatuinenweg in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Slatuinenweg is a unique street, where this former church path connected the neighborhood of Amsterdamse Baarsjes with the church in Sloten.

The buildings date back to 1675 and beyond – all houses have exceptionally deep gardens known as the former slatuinen (salad gardens), which, historically, provided the neighbourhood with food.

Behind the characteristic facade of one of the houses, Studio RIANKNOP has created a new, contemporary studio in a slatuinen.

A garden studio was built in the deep garden around the existing tree, equipped with a workspace, guest accommodation and a vegetable garden.

This project has been longlisted in the residential interior category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
