Line+ Studio has renovated and rejuvenated the Songyang Stray Birds Art Hotel in Hangzhou, China.

Across seven years, the Songyang Stray Birds Art Hotel Project has revitalised the historic Chenjiapu Village by combining the renovation of existing buildings with modern sustainable practices.

By integrating modern construction techniques with traditional craftsmanship, the project adaptive reuses the old housings and preserves the village's architectural heritage while introducing contemporary amenities.

The construction includes 11 guest rooms, a scenic lobby, a cliffside café and a restaurant.

This initiative rekindles the natural beauty of the countryside, achieving a harmonious coexistence of history and modernity, culture and commerce.

This project has been longlisted in the heritage project category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
