Itten+Brechbühl has developed the Sporthallenprovisorium Gloriarank in Zurich, Switzerland.

The larch wood element construction is a temporary, deconstructable, reusable sports hall erected over one year.

The temporary sports hall, Gloriarank, serves as a replacement for four sports halls of the University of Zurich.

The new construction's tripartite structure, located on a steep slope, responds to its enclosure by the Gloriastrasse on three sides.

This is expressed in terms of volume, programme, building technology and a proportionate facade.

In addition to fulfilling design requirements, the larch wood construction meets strict functional, economic, topographic and energy efficiency criteria.

This project has been longlisted in the sustainable building category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
