PomPom and Studio Y have designed the interiors of the Starward Distillery in Melbourne, Australia.

Like Melbourne's one-and-only whisky itself, the design for the Starward Bar breaks away from the typical old-world distillery aesthetic.

It's modern, bold, colourful, and vibrant – flipping traditional whisky stereotypes on their head and deliberately defying expectations of what a whisky distillery should be.

The historic warehouse in Port Melbourne has been transformed into a 120-seat venue, cleverly divided into sleek and cosy areas.

Inside, the distillery boasts a new bar, dining and lounge areas, a bottle-filling and tasting station, a shop and a bottle archive.

This project has been longlisted in the restaurant and bar interior category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
