Paul Crofts Studio has designed Tejo, a recyclable sofa system, for Isomi.
Made using cork waste from the production of wine stoppers, the sofa system helps preserve Portugal's cork forests and marks a major step towards the circular economy.
"Tejo is recycled and recyclable, a closed-loop sustainable system," said Paul Crofts Studio.
Each base module replaces plywood in its construction and is crafted from natural, renewable and recyclable cork.
Seating elements are designed to replace foam with natural latex and wool, while the fabrics are sourced from flax and hemp harvested in the UK.
A modular sofa system providing unlimited options, Tejo offers the freedom to either challenge or adhere to all types of spaces.
This project has been longlisted in the seating design category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
