Paul Crofts has designed Tejo for Isomi, a closed-loop sustainable seating system.
Tejo is recycled and recyclable, made using cork waste from the production of wine stoppers.
The recyclable sofa system helps preserve Portugal's cork forests and marks a major step towards the circular economy.
Each base module replaces plywood in its construction and is crafted from natural, renewable and recyclable cork material.
Seating elements are designed to replace foam with natural latex and wool, while the fabrics are sourced from flax and hemp harvested in the UK.
A modular sofa system provides unlimited options, and Tejo offers the freedom to challenge or accommodate all types of spaces.
This project has been longlisted in the sustainable design (consumer) category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
