Tszwai So has designed The Blue by Just Inn in Taipei City, Taiwan.

The Blue is the new flagship of Just Inn, an affordable, art-led Taiwanese hotel chain with locations in Taipei City and Kaohsiung.

The existing 10-storey, 2,000 square metre building, including the basement, was built in the 1970s as an insurance company's office.

This is the first and most ambitious project completed under the experimental 'Emotionalist' initiative to date, an international art/architecture movement reflecting on what it means to be human in an AI-dominated age.

"The blue colour was inspired by the Taiwan Blue magpie and made from Taiwan-sourced iron oxide," said Tszwai So.

This project has been longlisted in the sustainable renovation category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
