Kim Lewis Designs has designed the Frances Modern Inn in Texas, United States.

This project is a renovation of a 15-room boutique hotel in the historic 11th street district of East Austin.

Kim Lewis Designs preserved the building's brutalist exterior and interior architecture while transforming the stark rooms into opulent guest quarters adorned with sumptuous velvet, cascading fringe and a palette of rich colors.

Each room boasts its own distinctive design, with curated textiles, patterned wallpaper, statement fixtures, vintage decor, global curiosities and works from local artists.

In the spirit of sustainability, existing furniture and restroom finishes were preserved; headboards were upholstered in vegan leather, built-ins were embellished with brass hardware and existing bathroom vanities were repainted.

This project has been longlisted in the hotel and short-stay interior category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
