Archtube has created the Nicosia Municipality Town Hall's lighting facade.
The lighting design aimed to pay homage to the surrounding antiquities while creating a unique identity for the building.
At the same time, the aim was to reveal the intricate woven architecture of the Main Hall.
Soft, indirect lighting tones were used to wash the facade, creating a visual envelope that wraps around the building whilst being visible to visitors and pedestrians.
The architect's concept of a cocoon-inspired design inspired the lighting scheme, which uses cooler tones for the exterior and warmer tones for the interior.
This contrast creates a striking visual effect for city walkers as they pass by.
This project has been longlisted in the architectural lighting design category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
