Bentu Design has designed Wu, a collection of recycled shoe rubber furniture.

Wu is a series of stools and coffee tables made from recycled rubber from the shoe material industry.

"We conducted in-depth research into the rubber recycling industry in the Pearl River Delta region of China, utilising the rubber recycling industry chain in Foshan," said Bentu Design

This approach emphasises exploring new resources, potentials and opportunities within existing local systems.

It also addresses the urgent need to shift towards sustainable resource sourcing in response to local environmental crises, seeking new directions and new values.

This project has been longlisted in the sustainable design (consumer) category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
